About Us

Unbridled Spirit is the life's work and passion of Stephanie McGlothlin.

Steph has been riding since she was four years old.  After years of competing in shows, rodeos, and parades, Stephanie found herself frustrated with the harsh training and riding methods she saw on a daily basis.

She heard about "natural horsemanship" and gradually developed her own unique blend of training techniques derived from study with Monty Roberts, Pat Parelli, John Lyons, and other well-known trainers.

Stephanie combines her horsemanship skills with a natural affinity for teaching people of all ages.  Her training methods create a bond between horse and rider that develops lasting trust, respect, and emotional growth.

Stephanie founded Unbridled Spirit in 1993 in Scottsdale, Arizona.  Besides her popular lesson programs, she also led an influential state-funded riding project working with "at-risk" and disadvantaged youth.  What a privilege it is to see how horses can reach such hurting or abused children!

In 2002, Stephanie married and relocated to Boise, Idaho, due to her husband's job requirements.  She had tremendous success there, starting an award-winning bareback drill team and taking Best of Show in several Idaho state events.

In May 2005, Unbridled Spirit moved one last time to San Antonio, Texas.  Conveniently located off highway 281 in Bulverde, we are within easy driving distance of the city and suburbs of “San An.”   We are thrilled to be bringing our unique style and programs to the Lone Star State.  Come be a part of Unbridled Spirit today!

In 2009, we formed two drill teams.  After only seven months of practice, the youth drill team took second place at the Nationals.   The adult gaited drill team had lots of fun, especially in their costume class with their hula-skirt horses and margarita glasses

Stephanie and Matt were tremendously blessed in September 2010 with the birth of their beautiful, healthy daughter Kimberly Grace.  They have no doubt she will be following in her mother’s footsteps soon as she’s already rarin’ to ride!
